Julia Mills Gallery opened in December 2000. Situated in the historic Cornish fishing of Porthleven, it houses a rounded collection of crafts and fine art created by local and national artists including Julia's own work which is produced in hand blown glass from around the world.

The gallery is an intimate yet relaxed space, incorporating the glass workshop. Here, contemporary abstract works are juxtaposed with more traditional pieces all in an air of enchantment. Mermainds and fairies keep company with Orpheus and the sylkie alongside functional items such as ceramics by Russell Gibbs and Heather Swain; all dappled with colour by the glass.

The choice of exhibited work reflects Julia's focus on imagination, colour and light. Amongst her sources of inspiration are her living environment, textile designer Kaffe Fassett's work, Jan Ray's illustrations and the didacticism and soulfulness of fairy folklore.

New names appear regularly in the gallery and nestle in comfortably with some that may be more familiar; for example Lucy Clibbon, who has embelished the walls of Cafe Rouge.
